Welcome to the Juniata Fur Shed website..........

What started out as a small fur trading, trap line supply business in the fall of nineteen eighty-five, quickly grew to become a well known establishment in Mifflintown, PA. ( Juniata County ). The Juniata Fur Shed started out in the garage of Nelson H. Woodward, with the help of his brother Roy (“woody”) Woodward, and his son Gary. With the growing of the business there was a need for bigger space. In the spring of nineteen eighty-seven a larger building was erected off of Nelson’s Garage and in the fall of nineteen eighty-seven, the fur shed, moved into its new home, where it is presently located. The Juniata Fur Shed became a two story block building consisting of a space of twenty-four foot by forty-eight foot.

Due to customer requests, Nelson expanded his trapping business into hunting, reloading shop, specializing in “hard to find items”. Nelson always based his business on serving his customers needs, which led to a large clientele. People know if they wanted a special item, Nelson would go out of his way to do what he could to help his customers. The main goal of Nelson’s shop was to make his customer feel they could freely browse the merchandise, with out being pressured by a sales pitch.

Upon Nelson’s death in April of two thousand and two, the Juniata Fur Shed was passed down to his son Gary L. Woodward, who continues to fulfill his father’s legacy. Gary has taken the Fur Shed into the 21st century by upgrading to the computer era, with the help of Nathan Baney, owner of High Tech Hobbies, Dana Fike, a close personal friend, computer software tech. Gary continues to strive to treat, and respect his customers with the same values that his father Nelson bestowed on him.
